Will it work to simply swap the wider later model Dana 60 rear drum brakes on the earlier narrower brakes? I'm talking swapping the backing plates, all internals and drums.
It appears the additional shoe/drum width is accommodated in the extra offset of the backing plate and that the housings and axles are probably the same but it's quite difficult to get an accurate measurement without taking them all apart.
Has anyone done this? How were the results?

F250 rear drum brake upgrade

Re: F250 rear drum brake upgrade
It will work. I swapped the rear brakes on my Dana 60 with a set from a 78 F350 that had a Dana 70 under it and everything bolted up without any problems. It also made a noticeable difference in stopping. I have since replaced the Dana with a Sterling out of a late 80's truck to get positive traction because I already had the axle and the ratios were the same.
