Sweep Speedo Mods

Post by 69supercj »

A few months ago I added a mechanical water temp gauge but never did mount it permanently and I'd also noticed that my factory oil temp gauge was reading what I hoped was falsely low so I decided it was time to upgrade. I added a Stewart Warner mechanical oil pressure gauge along with a SW mechanical water temp gauge in the factory locations on the sweep speedo cluster. It took some doing and a little bit of modification but in the end it worked out well.

Oh I have no idea how old these gauges are, I've had 'em in the shop for years.

I was getting a little concerned about the actual oil pressure in my engine, the old factory gauge was reading about 25 psi but this SW gauge reads about 55 upon start-up and settles in about 45 after the engine warms up.

How low did your factory gauge read at idle and warmed up, mine reads out about thirty when driving and drops to almost zero if it's really hot outside. The truck runs fine, and it's always done this.I have a S/W oil gauge like yours, might try installing it.
Thanks,
Dan

It would stay right about 25-28 all the time. However upon start up it would take it 20 seconds or so to get there. Now its immediately at 50ish.
