3/4Ton 8 bolt wheel interchangability acoss the years?

Post by jamesdfo »

My '66 F250 Crew has 16" 8 bolt wheels with the rings on them, and I would like to find solid wheels for it. So, how many years of trucks/vans have the same approx width, same bolt circle and same ID diameter on the hole for the hubs? (assuming from what I see the wheels are intended to be hubcentric??)
I know someone who has a mid 90's F250 ('94-'96) that has a date with the squisher as soon as they get the drivetrain out of it, so there is a potential wheel donor, provided they will bolt up & the wheel hub ID's are the same??

Thanks!
James

I believe they switched in '99 to the metric size. Up until then they should all interchange.

I think 97 was the last year for the 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern on F-series trucks. Mine came from a later year E-series van, and I think they kept the same bolt pattern maybe as late as 2011.

Corey hit it dead center, so the mid-90s truck would make an excellent wheel donor.

Front Drum Clearance Issues

Post by chris401 »

I had front drum clearance problems. All the wheels that had rivets on the inside would contact the drum before contacting the hub. The Fire Stone wheels with weld beads cleared. I was only able to find two Fire Stone rims so I bought a matching set of new steel trailer rims. I run Cooper Discover 235/85 R16 E.

Are they Firestone rims? The two I found were on a 1990 E250.
