Can't see where your drain plug is Chris? Is it just
above the cross member at the side or left front corner,
or on the bottom? Can't tell in the picture. TR

towards the back of the sump on the passenger side. when the motor is all bolted in you cannot physically remove the plug from the pan.

Don't know if this would solve your problem,
but do you think it would be possible to make a hole
in the crossmember big enough to access the drain
plug with a socket and extension? I realize the I-beam
axle is right below there. Not sure of the room it would
make if any. Wondering if any other pans for 460s are
made with a different drain in them. That is a definite
bummer having to do it that way. TR

I have a 400 in a 63 with a similar problem. I went to the parts store picked up a couple of brass nipples, a 90, a "cap" for one end and a length of tranny cooler hose to fit the nipples . Put the 90 and one nipple into the drain plug, connected the hose to the other end with the cap. No more clearance problems.

my 64 with 460 has the dak front end and I had to put a truck rear sump pan in it. 4X4 (80's ish and up till 92 should have them). It is a pain but might be worth the extra effort.
