Post by chris401 »

Anyone running this cleaner on there FE powered slick? It won't clear my cab with the intake and carb spacer combination I have now.

I have a yellow one like it I always intended to put on my 292....
Cam bearings rolled before I got round to it.

I would probably fit on a small block or Y block. It does fit on top of the 1959 430 MEL mocked up in my F-100.

The paper filter for that air cleaner. (small)
Gives me some doubts about it's use on a performance engine,
or anything over 302CI.

Unless you're going to modify the bottom for more internal height.

I thought it would be ok for just driving around, however when I checked the math the element is too small like you said. Even the 352 at 4000 rpm the 9" element needs to be 2.70" tall. Stock element it's about 5/8" too short.

For what it's worth a 292 @ 5500 rpm needs about the same filter area (62.98) as a 352 @ 4500 rpm.

This is the one I'm running, believe it was off an 63 Merc Marauder. Have a K&N type washable filter in it. It clears but is pretty close, had to rebend a brake line from the MC.

What intake are you using? I am running an Edelbrock SP2P with a Holley on top of 2 1/4" tall 4 hole spacer.
