"Generator-Issues"

Post by Shadow »

The Generator On Connie's 62' Isn't Charging. Generator Was Rebuilt With Bearings, Brushes & New Armature 2-Years-Ago. The Battery Was Recently Replaced, Is It Possible It Needs To Be Polarized? And If So Do I Arc The Field To The Battery Wire On The Voltage Regulator To Accomplish This?? Any Help From The Crafty-Veterans Would Be Greatly Appreciated. Thanks...............

Can't hurt! Well, actually it CAN hurt, but only for a short while  ! I seriously doubt that is the problem, though! DO NOT arc from field to battery terminals! Disconnect both wires at the regulator and touch them together momentarily.

Yep, I was about to describe a lengthy procedure related to temperature compensation, etc.! Reality is, the voices of experience provided Step One!

Really no need to carry a hammer; there is always a GM owner around with one wrapped up in a portable creeper, AKA carpet remnant!
