Master Cylinder help... 64 F100

Hello all, new member here. I did a LOT of thread searching and reading before I decided to ask this question, so here goes....

I have a 64 F100 with the 292 and 3 on the tree. I'm using the Speedway Motors disc brake setup in the front, and doing all stock replacement in the rear. So my question is, what master cylinder and proportioning valve have other members used that they know works with this setup?

I'd like a power booster, but it doesn't have to be. And I'd also like something that is a direct bolt on and where I don't have to modify the pedal rod. Does such a booster exist? Can i walk into an auto parts store and buy one?

I'm not afraid of modifying things, but I just don't have much time to work on it, so I'd like to get the most out of my time by NOT having to custom fab things.

Blue,Welcome from NJ I had to shorten mine about 1/2" I used a 78 F150 MC with the power booster and bracketTom

I commented in this thread about my disk brake upgrade. I used the spindles from a donor 73 F100. The rest of the necessary parts I bought new or refurbished from NAPA (hubs, calipers, M\C, etc). I will never again install a pushrod into an M\C without measuring first. That was the biggest headache of the whole job. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately I don't have time to be scouring local yards for a bracket from a 78. And Lineman, judging by your comment in the other thread, and countless others I've read, it sounds like modifying the rod is something I do not want to do.

I am still hoping someone has a direct bolt on dual pot with booster. There has to be something out there that doesn't cost a fortune...

industrial chassis has a bracket that bolts a ranger booster and m/c to your fire wall. plus it beefs up the general area.

great looking kit. haven't installed on the shop unibody yet but looks great. comes with new pedal and everything

Since you have used these twice, did you have to redrill the pedal or the firewall? And did you use the 7in, 8in, or 9in?

NO drilling required , it bolts right up, I used the 7" to gain as much valve cover clearance as possible.

I bought the same one in an 8" booster. The rod is an adjustable one.

Just curious how this turned out? I am looking to do the same thing...although I am going with 4 wheel disc brakes.

I looked at the unit on POL and it looks really nice, however when searching online I also came across this unit from CPP

Which looked about the same as the POL unit but a bit cheaper. Anyone use the CPP one or know anything about it?

Jhorst, I still haven't bought a master cylinder. I just got a 460/C6 combo after I found out the 292 I had was junk. I did install the Speedway Motors front disc brake kit and it went on pretty easy.

Now I'm looking into what MC will fit with the 460.

I saw that response above. I was just responding to Jhorst question of how it turned out since this thread was originally active in March then went dormant.

Also, I've read that there is little to no clearance with the valve cover with a power booster , so that's why I mentioned I was looking for one that would work with a 460. The original post was for when I was going to run the 292.

I'm trying to avoid buying the MC/booster/pedal relocate kit from Industrial Chassis. It looks like a great piece and I have seen several successful installs with it, but I'm trying to avoid the extra expense of the relocation kit AND then a power booster/master. Know that I mean?

FYI, I'm running discs setup on the front only of my 64/292/3 sp. I DO NOT use a power brake booster but a CCP dual master cylinder. Stops great, don't have to have a booster, IMHO. Cheaper and gives you plenty of room on the firewall. So for the money I'm not convinced the booster is worth it.
