Speedometer adapter, and t98 questions

Post by aj64f100390-292 »

So a few months back I ordered a NOS speedo gear with the smallest amount of teeth that I could for my t98s speedo gear, and now its still off when you get to 40mph..thats 45 mph..its a tad bit off before that but not by much. And it will be a while until I get a 5 speed od, so when i stick my rebuilt 292 in, so I want it to be right, especially for my odometer. So my t98 has a steel speedometer gear, my 62 f600 t98 tranny I have lying around uses the same type of speedo gear. Ill post pics later, how many tailshaft assemblys are there? Or the other option if an adapter, whats the best option there..

I got tired of speedometer issues going from my COM to C-6. I changed out my gauges and gremlins started. I am going to a speedhut GPS speedometer next week. I will let folks know how it works out.

If you are reading low and have the smallest gear, you will need to eliminate friction in the speedometer or increase the magnetic charge in it. A good speedometer shop can take care of these things.
