Factory spotlight?

Post by Andy fox »

Wish I could upload pics. Might be able to see my spotlight in my gallery photos.
I'm wanting to replace the lens/bulb in my spotlight. Where would I even start other than pulling one of an old cop car?

And these weren't factory were they? Either way what was the reason back then to install one?

can get the bulb at an auto parts store.
they come in a couple different styles , spot, flood etc. depending on what you want to use it for.

some trucks did come from the factory with them others had the dealer install.

It's not a bulb. It's the whole lenses

Google Unity spotlights. Everything you need and I mean everything including the mounting hardware for slicks is still available from them

So, someone has put a sealed beam in there. I have one drivers side slick mount and several spotlights, for parts.
The 63 Ford one I pulled had a replacable bulb the others had sealed beams.. check your parts store first, they can usually order what you need, returns are easy.

As stated "Unity" is still in business, OEM parts are available....

Spotlights were used to either harass kids at the 'submarine races' or to find addresses at night.

They weren't installed at the factory. They were ordered and the spotlight and things like radios were dealer installed options. My 64 was ordered new in 11 of 63 and my father in law who ordered the truck and was at the dealer when it was unloaded off the transport told me that the spotlight and the radio were in the cab in boxes and were installed at the dealership. Guess that would explain the fact that the radio was installed in the dash at an angle which I corrected when I restored the truck
