Found a surprise in the cab

Post by Gota64 »

While pulling the floor mats, screwed in patch panels and garbage from the cab of the truck today, I found this jewel. Who would have expected it to survive this long.

Anybody know how to decode these. I expect the 02 25 65 is the purchase date. To bad the dealer name is not included. Perhaps one of the codes defines the dealer.

F10= F100
C=292 CID V8 Engine
H=Lorain, OH Assembly Plant
508480= Consecutive Unit Number= Mfg'd in Feb of 1964

The Tag riveted to your Drivers side B pillar (or back edge of door ) has more data, if you post it, we can fill in some more blanks:)

I was really referring to decoding the parts below the vin
Y corresponds to the color Skylight Blue,
2 is interior trim: Medium blue crush vinyl and medium blue rib vinyl
12 is the rear axle code = Ford WBG-F, H
A is the transmission code = Manual 3-spd Ford Standard Duty

That leaves 0 14B on the second to bottom line
36425 0 on the last line -- maybe 36425 could be a zip code for the dealer?

I haven't been to Columbia in a few years but Sloan Ford has been there from at least the 70's. I'm guessing they are still there.

If restoring a ford was easy, chevy guys could do it.

I think 14B is the body style, did we have zip codes in the 60's?
EDIT; looking back I think B is for school bus. So thats probably not the body code.
