I've been wanting to learn more about the owner history on my 64 f100. I've had the data plate decoded a while ago, and It came from dso-74 on Seattle, WA. I would like to learn the owner history of it, and if possible find out what dealership it came from (I know good luck) I heard that ford burned alot of the documents , I'm assuming that means finding copies of invoices, and build sheets is near impossible. But I've asked a few places near me about searching the vin but they said they can't. ...we know the previous owner bit I've never asked about where he got it, dad bought it as a work truck in the mid 90s. But my fear is that whos to say it was never stolen at some point in the last 54 years..maybe I'm parinoid but you just don't know.
As always any helps appreciated

I would say , if you have the title
And the vin on the title matches the vin on the frame
You should never have a problem

ok, ya the data plate and the frame matches with the title. So who can I go through to find out the owner history? Any way to get invoices? It came from the san jose 0lant in Aug of 64, and came from the seatle district sales office...and has a barden bumper-orgeon company.

Check with your state DMV, I believe you can have a title search done.
If rumor is true it has to be done at the main DMV in Topeka when done in Kansas.

Local enforcement says National stolen vehicle database drops entry's after 7 years.
Local records may linger for years months or forever... just depends when they choose to toss the old files.

Some states allow you to place a storage Lein, or mechanics Lien against the title. Make the amount large enough to discourage an previous owner from paying to get it back, but not so much a judge would call it a ploy to deprive an owner of his truck. All it takes to remove the lein is is signature on the title by the note holder...

How's that for insurance, again check with your local DMV or court house for details...
