Will later model brake light assemblies work in my 65 styleside?

Exactly what are you talking about? Brake switch assembly or tail lamp? tail lamps will interchange, but not the switch.

Yes the bumpside ('67/'72) assemblies drop in, and are popular because of the integrated backup lamps.
