Brush and cattle guards for Slicks

Hello,

I've seen photos of brush/cattle guards for our Slicks, but have not been able to find much info on who made them?

I'd like to hang one on my '66 F-350. If I can't find a straight used one, I'm willing to make one. But that sure would be simpler if the pattern/plans/measurements info were available from one of these companies.

I have checked with Luverne out of Brandon SD, but they seem to focus on Chevrolet & GMC. Anybody have any history on these for Fords?

thanks,
Doug in east TN

My slick had a 68-72 push bar welded to the bumper when I got it....
It was one of the first things to be scrapped wen I started working on the uni...
JC Whitney used to sell brush guards for anything... Give them a call. 61- 72 should fit fine with minor adjustments if any at all.... :2cents:

I have one like the one pictured above on my 66.
I purchased from a member here.
They come up on eBay.
It fits perfect is stout and has 1” braces that go through the core support to the frame.

Somewhere I have one, but I do not have the braces that go thru the radiator support. These were a Ford accessory for our trucks. In addition to the brace pieces there were pieces where the brace went thru the radiator support for the round hole that had to be cut. these consisted of rubber seals and a plate to hold the seals in place. I would sell the guard but it is heavy and shipping would be costly. I've even seen one of these on a truck that was chrome. Don't know if it came that way or was done after purchase. Looked much better in chrome.

Also on them it did from the installation it had a steel piece that was on the grill where it was cut so no jagged edges where on the grill and core support was cut so the rod from support to frame was there,, I had a 63 truck that came with one and also the bumper had few extra holes to mount that on top as well

Thanks everybody for the info. Guess I need to keep looking for a good used one. Rich, if you find yours, let me know - Carmi is about 300 miles NE of ea TN.

I did hear back from Luverne. no joy:

Douglas,

Thanks for your inquiry. I called and forwarded your email to Engineering. We may still have some of the old drawings buried in a filing cabinet. There was a fire a few years back and we lost a lot of our records. If found, it would have to be scanned and entered into our computer system. We are not planning on making these guards again.
My contact in engineering said he would keep an eye out for them and email us back. He did not sound very hopeful.
I am thrilled to be asked, and wish you the best of luck, as I am also a fan of these older vehicles.

Does anyone know what width the wheel is on the truck in the picture? If possible, I would also like to know the tire size.

It looks very similar to a 9.00-16
If so , probably an 8" wide rim

Thanks,
I was trying to read the tires but couldn't quite make out the size.
