Heat sink ? on 66 Alt.

I think its called a heat sink hooked to the alt. and the optional amp gauge . Is it really needed and if so are they available anywhere. I have it bypassed now and seems to work OK . The terminal busted when I removed the wire. Thanks Tom

Probably not needed until you have a big draw
Such as a low battery... or
Headlights , heater & windshield wiper all on at same time
