I saw another cab in your pic. You gonna sell another one? I really could have used that. Since mine stinks. Would you consider offering it with a set price for a club member if this bid follows through?

Just so you know, the reserve is 800$ firm, and I have the present high bid, which is half of that. Anyone that wants it, feel free to bid, as this is as far as I am going.

Cab for sale

Post by William-in-St. George »

It appears to me that this is a fairly rust free cab and that floor panel on the drivers side has been replaced. I can see the welds on the shot of the cab support. The raw welds are visible. An $800.00 reserve is way high and if he gets it I am going into the used cab business.

Heck, at $400 I am thinking about the used cab business! I don't know what shipping would cost but there are half a dozen at the local wreckers without any rust at all. Of course I live in the desert southwest but heck! Anybody ever shipped a cab? How much does it cost? How did you do it? I may be interested in trying to sell some if it is feasible. Hawkrod

Hawkrod, the last time I tried to get one shiped the price was the same as for a whole truck. I'm sure there must be some cheaper way, but as of yet haven't found it. I have hauled one in the back of my pickup, but it's a bear getting the things in and out. I built a platform out of 4x4's to set it on in the bed. Otherwise, you have no room for anything else in the bed, to speak of. After e-mailing the guy, he was cooperative, and told me what it would take to buy the cab. When I was overbid, I went ahead and bid 400 as I knew it wouldn't win the auction, and if it did, It's fairly close to me.
I've bid on another whole truck with camper in New Mexico, and if I get it, I will fly down and drive it home. Most likely make it a parts buying trip, and try to find some way to haul home another truck and cab. I can use beds cabs and hoods.
The cab in the auction has had extensive welding work done to it. Floor pans have been welded in etc.. Floor pans are 100$ alone. So everything is relative.

I had kind of figured it would be something like that. I have shipped heavy items and even large body parts but a cab is a 'hole 'nother animal. If they really bring $800 though it would pay for an east coast trip though, I figure I can get 5 on my trailer and the local pick n pull charges $90 for them (bought a beauty for my 77 supercab). No kiddin, My dad an I have been on a weird streak of attracting free 65-66 parts trucks, one each F-100,250 and 350's complete and with good cabs and two good beds. Also the F-250 is a Ranger package, uncut dash and virgin bed so Im pretty excited about that one!

Hawkrod, first you have to find someone with that kind of cash, their willing to part with, for trucks that you can buy for about the same money. If you have someplace to store the cabs, keep the cabs on blocks out of the mud and weeds, then it would be a good investment. At 500 a piece, I think you could get rid of a load, 800 it might take awhile. At that I would get a significant deposit, and an open time frame for delivery. I have one good cab spotted in Colorado for 200. If Ican get back to it in time, I will buy it. I really need a diesel flatbed, and two car trailer setup with racks for hauling parts. May sell my 01 GMC and look for something on Ebay, in an older truck. Not crazy about the GMC anyway. Good truck but all I use it for is over the road long trips, on which I buy old Ford parts. Not the best usage for an low mileage extended cab 4x4 with Z71 package, Denali rims, and stepboards.

Forgot to add, the cab on Ebay was listed on the old site under tiny66. It's in the classified section. Hawkrod, were you the one listing the 223 gaskets on Ebay? If you were, Be more carefull with your adds. Not everyone reads the whole add.

Nope, not me, don't have any auctions running and my auctions are always perfect, If I don't know what it is I don't offer it. When I sell stuff it stays sold! LOL Hawkrod
