What year did they start the V8 Hood badge?

Post by ketonic_dude »

Hey all, there's something I can't figure out. I noticed today that the VIN code on my 63 F100 shows a C for the engine which refers to a 292ci 2bbl V8 but my hood has the 6cyl bolt with a lightning bolt though it, hood badge. I've been looking through old magazines and books and I can't find any 1963 with a V8 hood badge, or 64 for that matter. But I did find a 65. Does this mean they didn't start the V8 hood badge until the later 65 and 66 models? I thought they had always done that but I guess I was wrong.

Nope

Introduction of the 352 FE brought the V8 badge to the hood for 1965 and 66.
