I've been there in the past and will keep it in mind. I do not have anything running with a y-block at this point, but have a 65 or 66 that I might bring by. Neither is a racer.

It is the Ford Expo and the Y Block shootout is simply a part of it. If you don't have a Y, there is much more Ford stuff going on.

Many of us who race don't have racers. They are our daily drivers, our show cars, our cruise-in cars. Bracket racing is a lot different. You don't have to abuse it, just be consistent.

It would be cool to get a group of slicks there.

Hey Charlie,
I'm a little closer than you (470 miles). If I can get my hands on another slick by the next year's one I'll be there. I've been wanting to get a Y-Block. That could potentially double the number of slicks there! haha 8)

I hope to see you there sometime.

Another thing, the track people don't make the rules about Y-block. The Y-block people make the rules about Y-block. No guarantees, but if only one or two of you show up, you might be included in the fun. Again, no guarantees. It wouldn't be the first time that a vehicle that did not have a Y of any kind, Lincoln or Ford, participated in the Y-Block Shootout. But if you beat everyone, you may not be invited back until you have a Y. :D

I leave in the morning. If you're within an hour or two, swing by one day. Look for the Y-Block pit. You won't miss it.

Well, I didn't notice any other Slicks or run into any Slick guys. It was a great weekend. On Saturday I went out in the 2nd round but still managed to be the best finishing truck. Sunday I made it to the semi finals and one other truck was still in and went on to win, a 1954 F100 with a warm 239. He brought it to the track with some problems, after having made some modifications to the engine. He started the weekend doing 21s and by the end was running low 18s and he still has more tuning to do.

I shifted 500 rpm higher than I did last time and my best time for the weekend was 15.79 @87mph. I almost went back in time. But my best time to date is 15.6 @ 91mph, shifting another 500rpm higher, at a local track.

On the way home, it was running hot and found that about 65mph kept it from going over 205 - much higher than normal, but not too hot. I got about 17.5mpg that way.

I think there was over $3000 in the pot this year so those of you who need money for motivation, it is there. This is only for the Y-block part, which the track has absolutely 0 to do with - if the Y-Block people didn't come up with the money, there would be none. You can participate in other brackets and get money from the track, if you win. Start planning for next year!

Good on you Charlie. Important thing to me is you drove it and raced it, all around not bad for an old truck with a good yblock. 8)
Not as easy as it might sound. about a 1000 miles with racin' in between!

It's 613 miles one way. I ran 3 miles on the drag strip. So with the around town driving, it's 1300-1400 miles, easy.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a good time. Y-blocks rule, but I don't have to tell you that do I?

That looks like an absolute riot Charlie. Your truck sounded pretty sweet flying down the track. Thanks for uploading the videos

If anyone wants to go, now is the time to make your reservation. There may not be any rooms if you wait much longer.

Anyone planning to go? If you can't make Slickstock or it's just too far, this may be a good alternative.

Charlie, have fun this year! and a safe trip. I won't be going this year as I opted to go to Speedweek for the first time in my life and can't swing both trips. I plan to see yblockers there though. 8)

Oh, cool. I need to plan to go to speedweek. That could become a Y-block gathering of sorts since there should be at least 3 Y's now participating. Chuck should be there.

I might make it if I am not tied up otherwise. Don't have roadable yblock at the moment, but have enjoyed this in the past.
