anyone interested in a Fall Des Moines Iowa cookout

Post by Kid »

I live close to Des Moines and would be interested in putting on a Fall cookout. I could pick a Hotel and bring a cooker trailer and we could meet on a Saturday and have a cookout Sat evening and then head to a cruise nite somewhere or I could line us up a Restruant for us to cruise to. Let me know if any one is interested as I know we could probably come up with several trucks and might be able to get us a decent Hotel room rate at the SS hotel.....................Kid

Kid,
I would be interested - depending on when you are thinking. If it's at least a month out (or more) I might have a chance at getting my 'young slick' ('67) back on the road by then..........

Unfortunately, the real slick(s) are longer term projects but hopefully will have one ready for SS6!!

Dianne is excited about doing something like this, and that's after a weekend marathon unibody buying spree!

Oct 13th is the big swap meet in Cedar Rapids, I think.

Ok, How about Oct 20th. Third Sat of the Month and enough time for people to get things finished up and ready. I will figure us out a cruise route and we can cook out at our place or we can find a restruante and have a good time. What does everyone think........Kid

well the 20th will not work for me. I just got a phone call from my oldest step son and he is treating me to an all expense paid weekend at the Kansas Speedway. We will be going for both the truck and the cup race. Does the 27th work for anyone. I know it is getting pretty late in the year for this.......Kid

I am going to repost this in upcoming events section. Anyone who is close enough to attend let me know. I am going to call the SS hotel and see if we can get a discounted rate if anyone wants to stay over

I called Newton Speedway to see if they give tours and they said they do, I am waiting on a call back from them to see if I can get us in there that Sat. I think that would be cool to get to walk through the facility. I am not sure if it will work out but I am trying...........Kid

Kid this is just me SAYING what others might be thinking...

I would guess driving to your place and having the sit down and eat thing would be MORE than enough. I think you are getting to worked up ! ;) I know that SS 5 is still hot in the memory..

It doesn't need to be a huge event, just my thoughts on the matter..
