I believe that was a Corvette C5, or newer, transmission sitting in the back...

thanks everybody for the kind words!

powerplant: one of the crate motors from a 2006 expedition, the 5.4 liter 32 valve big block to be specific, twin turbo setup to boot, mostly because this motor keeps it all ford and also has a rock solid bottom end that will carry the boosties just fine..

someone mentioned "all thsi work without the top being chopped" well the roof is chopped, and the body is also sectioned, creating teh illsuion that the roof is not chopped, thsi was the goal exactly, subtlety at its finest. the back glass is also stock as someone mentined, and for the person wanting more details. check out the build on www/unilow.net, it has pretty detailed pics of the chop all the way through..

if anyone has any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask! and thanks again for the enthusiastic positive responses, it is keepin me motivated even though ive been on a break from it while its up north at bob grants getting all steel and pretty again like it was in 1962..

thanks!!

Sectioning one of these trucks had crossed my mind quite some time ago.
I could not picture how to do the hood/fender bulges in a way that I thought looked good - what you have done not only looks incredible but gives a mean look that is just killer.

Oh my bad, I see the chopped top now. Had to go back to the before pics. Sorry.

Those artist renditions on your site look very real. Were they done on a 3D model?

well you are right, it was tricky, thanks for the compliments, although its a huge undertaking to compete a section, when i decided to have it done, i saw the section of the fenders and hood right away, i knew that the hood had to lay down on the fender bulge and it would create that sharp angle using the factory body lines, the lines just kind of shoot out form that point and it gives it a pretty agressive look there.. thanks again!

dude, that is effing sick!

I like the no bullshit tubular approach. If I had the dough and the "need" to go REEAL low, that would be a great approach, but I'm gonna need slightly deeper weeds when I get her down. I'm stuck on the nostalgia of a dropped straight axle....

I'm curious as to how you intend to "Open the hood"? it looks like it's welded shut, and to the cab, no?

OMG!!! I just caught this for the first time. I am amazed at your metal fab skills, and your great eye for the "right" look to get via chopping and sectioning your uni. I will be following your progress. 8)

I think the 32V Triton is a great idea. I think it is a way under-used and under-appreciated engine for rods. If I ever put a CV front suspension on my F100, I want to use that 32V 5.4. Good Luck, and keep the pics coming!

You got yourself a sweet build!!! and im not busting your bubble when I say this but a 5.4 isnt a big block as its only 330 CI. But it does have the over all size of a BBF. Jus sayin!.

Super nice and absolute top quality craftsmanship. I was noticing the rack and how the tierod ends were running uphill at a fairly steep angle. Wont this give you a TON of bumpsteer? Or, will this be remidied by the air bags/ adjustible ride height?
