Getting on with the truck after being in California for three weeks. Made a mini paint booth out of half of the garage. Just barely enough room to do the cab and two doors. Ran out of clear way too early and had to run out and buy another gallon. I only had 1/3 of a gallon to start with. Figured it would be enough but not so much. If you ever tackle something like this take note. Its going to take about twice the materials than you think it will. When you need to paint 100% inside and out of a vehicle, it takes a lot more materials for complete coverage.
Made one mistake when the air hose touched the drivers side cab corner. I'll need to sand and repaint that area after things dry. A few runs and some dust in the paint but nothing that cant be fixed. I'm pretty satisfied with how nice it came out after the dozens of hours of body work. To think. I still have the hood fenders and bed still to do.

MeZapU,
Nice. How much base coat it take to do cab and doors?

Sherwin Williams base coat paint I have is a 1-1 mix. Used about 2/5 of a gallon. It sure goes quick when you need to get every square inch inside and out.

Shoot that's nice! I bet its fun putting doors and such back on after all that work spraying it to perfection. Make a fellar nervous!
Re: My 66 F-100 Shortbed resto. Taking a while.
Still have not tackled the windshield. Been working on the doors. New anti-rattle kit is a big project. Cutting off and riveting the brackets. Fitting it all in without scratching the paint. Have the carpet down and the new firewall cover in. Glove box cardboard needs to go in before the heater box. Learned that the hard way. Have all the dash switches installed except for the choke cable. It's AWOL somewhere as I cant find the darn thing. Just a bit more wiring to tidy up. I have the steering column, glove box and ash tray doors painted and ready to install this weekend. Slow going.

Windshield is in, as is the back glass. Dash chrome installed. Steering column in as well. Removed a few clear coat runs on the dash as well. Need some final bits and pieces and hoping to get the cab back onto the frame next weekend is I can muster some help. Still cant find the choke cable. That thing will be the death of me.

Very nice work.
In your paint booth, are those fans out?
If they are blowing out how much explosion danger is there sucking paint fumes through the motor?
