I sanded front fenders to 220 today. But this is a cooler picture.

I like your little window sticker. The center horn button looks great too.

Did some crude filler work on my fender lower corners.

Image

Ready to go back in epoxy cause I broke thru into bare metal all over.

That's the same cart I built for the truck bed.

Image

And I resanded and primed the valance pieces.

Will be at work all day Wednesday but I only work three hours Thursday and expecting 60+ degrees! May get some high build back down and get a good flat sand job done.

Worked with my wheels yesterday after work. Thought I had a sidewall/bead issue.... really had a bad valve stem. Anyway... I do t want to drop 1000 on tires when the junk yard gallons I have are good enough for now. Mounted and balanced to get them thrown on the truck.

This afternoon after work I messed around with the fenders and inner fenders.

The totally stainless kit I bought seriously lacks some items so I got frustrated that I'm going to. We'd different nuts/bolts for somethings. Did a count and got a plan for tomorrow.

Image

I took the Monstaliner kit and rolled in on the inside parts of the front fenders. It's a messy job. Painting the nice side will be easy and is coming soon.

My fenders are outside baking in the overcast day while I went and bought more hardware.

I also threw some paint on the lower front valance rock splash guard. I was worried the new grey wouldn't quite match what I already threw on the cab. I sprayed a coat and went out and compared to the cab. It looks right but time will tell when I put fenders on.

Image

I'm headed to the paint store to get more high build primer and clear coat for my upcoming pieces.

More later.

Spent some time running errands today. But got the fenders aligned too. Glad I did that cause it identified where the core support and l bracket needs to be tightened down to.

Should look into die cut stickers for these. I tried painting them.. looked like boogers.

High build went down this afternoon
Image
I installed an anti-rattle kit on my driver door. I boogered up the other one a few weeks back.

Image

Spent time up stairs looking for stuff and of course got sidetracked.
Image

I sanded driver fender down to 400 and put it in sealer.

Image

Tried getting passenger fender sanded down but found a low spot that would piss me off.
Glazing putty here we go.

More sanding!
THe dry kind then the wet kind. It all sucks. My feet are killing me tonight from standing on concrete.

Put color down on the fenders and front valances.

Then came three coats of clear

Looks like your truck is really starting to come together nicely. Amazing what a coat of paint will do, but its all the effort leading up to it that makes the difference.

Not sure what my plan for today will be. Need to let these pieces sit a while to fully cure and harden before wet sanding.

I may grab my rear fenders and start more filler work on them. I already started but need to block it out. I need to weld on the hood, straighten dents out- and fill too. Hmmmm. So much to do. At least I can see the end of this tunnel for body work. (The hood is huge-I need help moving it)

I got in trouble at work today looking through this build. Its one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I am envious of your attention to detail. I can't wait to see it moving.

Oh come on guys.... don't risk your job on this. I can't even open this website on our work computers, yet I can open fte... weird.

Today is like 75* and sunny! Time to put coveralls on and get something accomplished.

Worked on a few things today. Decided to work on the bed.

Here's what my dieseldawg thinks of me spending so many hours out in the garage.

In today's episode.... cutting, welding, grinding, drilling, more grinding..

Image

Extension pieces went on after bed welded together.

Test fit the bed to the truck. Driver side of the bed is sagging down a little. So I may need to shim the bed up front a little.

Image

Test for the spare tire rack. Found I need to wobble the holes just a tad so the rack doesn't hit the fender.

Image

Test for the steps

Image

See I have some filling to do too...

Image

I'm on a Samich break right now. May get another hour or so out there before I call it quits today. I wanted to get it in another coat of epoxy today. And figure how I'm going to get the old steel fender hardware out of the bed.

Stay tuned folks. Got another 8 days off work.

Decided to continue working till 9pm. I cut the old steel fender hardware out. They are spot welded in the bed side.

Image

Quick hammering with a cold chisel and out they pop.

Image

Tomorrow I plan on more epoxy, welding the steps and probably all I will get done. Seam seal?
