Replacing Cab Mounts and floor pans on a Unibody F100

Post by River City »

When researching replacing the cab mounts, lower hinge pillars, and floor pans on my '61 uni I found a lot of people asking questions about the process. So when I did mine I made this little video in hopes it helps others out there looking for info on the subject.

Nice job on the video, thanks for the thorough explanations. I'm staying tuned for what I hope is you next video on bed floor repair, my 66 has the same issue.

Really like the '66 Mustang in the background. Would love to find a fastback project around the same vintage.

Love both yours and Aprils, you come across as competent and intelligent You are both doing great jobs. I will have to do steps, roof line, torque box,bed and side panels if I ever work on the remaining uni fleet and this helped a lot.
I think we need folks doing these videos, you should continue doing these as a guide line for those who come behind you, if for no other reason than to document your build and skills

I cut the crush tube out of my old ones and welded it into the new ones. I was worried I'd crush the floor and mount if I over tighten the cab bolts.

Thank you all for the kind words! I did weld in a tube using some very thick pipe I had laying around. (schedule 40 maybe?) I didn't include it in the video as I've read it's only suggested and not required. I thew it in there for piece of mind for myself, but left it out of the video. Looking back I suppose I should have included it.

He posted another video- it also shows he is at the hospital with his bride as she is about to have a baby. So we may have a new addition to the slick60's family today. Im pretty sure he is a going to be a busy man!

Hey Matt, I watched your last video. Told my wife before I started, that THAT was a huge ball of unused wire......

I'm like you about wanting to keep it simple. You've ALMOST got me wanting to jump back on mine again. AGE is the biggest thing keeping me from doing it. That, & time. I haven't even finished my 58 Bug yet.
Can't wait for the next video..... Think I'll go ahead and buy my Blue paint, I know i'm going to do that. Catch ya later. Rick

Is he #3? I've got 3 and for several years when they were young it was tough getting much time to do car related stuff. Good luck to you!

I'm about to go through this same process with a 61 unibody. I have an 85 LTD that I'm putting the body on, so I will not be replacing the cab mounts, just floor pans. Did you have any problems with the floor pans that you didn't show on your video, or did they fit with no issues?
