My 65 F-250 Engine Swap

Post by chris401 »

Slowly taking place. Once I get the cross members and starter pocket fabricated it will go quicker. Until our pictures can be loaded directly to this site I will be posting them on the MEL Engine Forum: http://ford-mel-engine.com/viewtopic.ph ... 6904#p6904

Looks like an interesting swap. Are you using a truck 4spd?

I am planning on using a non OD Clark 5 speed and the auxiliary 3 speed. I am keeping the original FE location to avoid changing driveshaft lengths when swapping engines

I did some reading on the 430, short lived but quite an engine for it's time. I'm sure if I were just a little bit older I'd have been swapping those motors into pickups. By the late 70's and 80's it was easy to find 429/460s cheap. I had three pickups with 460s back then and came close to buying one for my 66 but decided to go with an EFI Windsor and overdrive auto. You'll have a cool truck with the period correct 430 in there. Is it possible to find the 3x2 intakes anymore?

Those "High Performance" EDG 4 barrel intakes you see on line are just 57-59 stock intakes. I have 4 of them.

Added some more pictures to the MEL Forum. Photos and measurements of a C4TA-7505-G 330/361/391/Industrial 428 FT bell housing in a 2 wheel drive 66 F-100.
