Introduction

Post by OldManVan »

G'day,

Recently purchased a real shitter 65 slick. Well slick cab and chassis . Dodged a bullet from the minister for finance using the line I'm sure we have all used. "It was to cheap not too". I found the forum doing a search and was wrapped to see some Aussies on it. Any way when I get a chance ill post some pictures and be asking a heap of questions.

 Its ok, we've all done that. And they become addictive, I never worked out why but they do.

Word of Warning: This site is very sensitive to 'lack of pics.....' Basically if there are no pics, it didn't happen. So HURRY UP and show us what you got!
Don't be afraid, most of us started with no floors, or no bed, or no..... well you get the drift! :D

Might have pulled some weight in it's day? Blue slick had some similar concocted angle welded in everywhere at the back. It had pulled a couple of tonne worth of trailer and steel fencing on a display stand.

Looks like the hard work is done though, it's already pretty low!
Thanks for sharing pics. Is it ready for paint since you took those pics??

Lol I wish. Got too many other projects to get through before I start on this old girl. As I said too cheap to pass up for the "ill get to it one day project". Currently fixing up an fb holden panel van that must be on the road before I decide on what to work on after that. It will either be the truck or my 67 firebird that needs more work than the ftruck ( believe it or not ) I will be looking for a styleside bed for this build though so if any one knows of or has one let me know.

Stylesides aren`t easy to find over here, but they do come up for sale ever now and then, got mine from Victoria years ago and then bought another just around the corner from me, LOL that one was then sold to some bloke in Victoria by the name of Leeroy!

My uncle had a FB holden van that had windows and a rear seat and only had 2 doors, he bought it 2nd hand that way..... :?

Yer I was going to ask if anyone had some rocking horse sh!t I could drag home in the bed I buy of them . That said willing to look at any condition. Why not I say, couldn't get any worse condition than the cab, could it  i was having a better look at it yesterday and I think that the "notch" on that cross member was done to clear the diff housing when they "lowered it". Took the wheels off it and had a bit of a look at the jag front clip and it actually looks like a reasonable job. One small win for OldmanVan one giant win for the old lowered ftruck.

Hi, looks like you have a bit of a project on your hands, if you need any bits I have a lot left over from my truck, including a spare cab, I`m in Sydney but I come down for the Bendigo swap every year, we have a site there. John

what do you need? we wrecked 4 trucks, I don`t have any front sheet metal except for a mangled 63 grille, but I have 6 doors, & all the bits for them, the cab I mentioned, plenty of windows, heaps of gauges, some big truck front ends, I also have custom cab windscreen mouldings & full set of custom cab mouldings, new DC windscreen rubber & radiator support mount kit & heaps of good badges. let me know what you are after & I will see if I have it.
