Australian Drag Raging Grand Finals

Post by 1964 700 »

done plenty of kms in the Merc truck, just got back from a 3000km trip to Adelaide with the Comet to race at the Australian Drag Racing Grand Finals, had a top weekend, won the meet against 65 other racers in Super Street bracket, should be on speedweek on sbs this sunday, beat the Australian champ in the final by 0.009 & got enough points to be N.S.W. divisional Champion again for the 2nd year running, came home & had 1 day to reload & we headed to Echuca for the Early Ford V8 National rally with our 1934s on the back, 4500 kms in 2 weeks, had a trip to Calder in Melbourne in January for the Australian Nationals, only made the quarter finals lost by 0.002, the Merc truck has clocked up 57000kms since its been on the road the past 3 years.
in a couple weeks should be going to vintage truck show at Penrith fire museum

Congrats, John!
I thought we had wide open spaces in Texas!
One of these days, I'm going to have to pick your brain on getting the power to the pavement on the Comet!

Hi Paul,
we have plenty of long flat roads in some areas over here, this area in the pics is flat for about 200 miles, good for the truck with no hills
nothing special about the comet suspension wise, all stock, with home made caltracs

Got that, thank you! Is the hood hinged or lift-off?
Thanks again,
Paul

Sounds good; I have the lighter factory springs. I may try the hinges rather than pinning it. Thanks.
