OK, this made me laugh - literally.
I'm not a purist by any means. I've been a GM guy all my life. Most of my family has worked for GM and drive GM products. Check the user name and then do the math - lol!! Oddly enough, I used my retirement bonus to buy a used truck - a 98 Ford F150. I love that truck! - even though it's the "not so loved" 1998 body style. I recently picked up a 65 slick and even more recently acquired a 2003 Crown Vic. My buddy asked me if I was OK - haha. I completely understand the whole "brand loyalty" - I really do. I've been so anti-ford my whole life that it surprises me, more than anybody, that I have 3 Fords in the driveway. But I love em and I'm glad I "violated" the loyalty rules - lol.

Personally, if someone wants to slap an LS in an F100 or an EcoBoost in an old c-10 I say more power to em. Who am I to say what they do with their vehicles. And to get angry with them about it or to shun them because of it? - well that just borders on ridiculous. I just enjoy trucks - old trucks. Don't get me wrong, I admire and respect a well executed restoration as much as the next guy. I love to see old steel brought back to OE standards. It's a beautiful thing. But I also respect the time, energy, money and imagination that goes into any old vehicle that gets new life breathed into it - regardless of what brand of parts they use. But that's just me.

I enjoy the banter and the ribbing that goes along with the whole "brand loyalty" thing. It's fun. But now that I own both Ford and Chevy, now I can talk smack no matter who's in the room - lol. And trust me - I'm gonna use that acronym on my GM buddies - lol.

Most of my vehicles are Fords , but I have some Chevys also
Chevy made some great vehicles & engines
But a 350 doesn't need to be in everything with 4 wheels :cussing:

40 years ago there wasn't a glut of donor motors
Dropping a X brand engine into a vehicle
Because it was cheap , just made sense

But it's not that way anymore.. plenty of good Ford engines
To be had , at reasonable prices

I would look at a chebby powered Ford , just as long as I'd
Look at a Ford powered chebby ..... not long

I admit I have been guilty of this "crime" in years long gone. I have installed a 302 Ford in a 51 Chevy Pickup, a 318 Chrysler in a 39 Ford pickup, a 283 Chevy in a 50 Ford pickup and a 223 Ford in a 61 Studebaker pickup. Back in the day I would just crossbreed whatever I could find that was handy & cheap at the junkyard.

Agreed. Nothing makes me sick quicker than seeing a chebbie engine in a Slick or Fridge. LSx engine swaps have become so common its disgusting. Don't Frankenstein your Slick please!!!

I think a Ford should have a Ford and a Chevy should have a Chevy BUT i also think a person should build what ever they want. I was at a point of needing an engine to replace the 223 in my 64 and did not have alot of money to spare and had a good 327 laying in the garage and the thought crossed my mind a few times to put the 327 in until I could find a v8 Ford.
