Ride along in a Ford GT40, ca. 1968

Post by goldenage »

Not Slick60s related, but man, how cool. In-car footage of a lap around LeMans in a Ford GT40. Love that engine sound.

Actual race footage, too. Enjoy!

Some cool stuff on there. The Gulf GT40s are one of my all time favorite race cars.

I will never EVER get tired of that video Alan, I can not BELIEVE the caliber of the drivers to go so fast so close in so many different kinds of cars.. AND, as always I am blown away by the speed that white MINI was carrying .. the one he passes half way up the hill, that things had some guts....

Yep second lap, how about the yellow Charger passing the EH Holden after the first bend, there must have been some paint shared there!

one more lap and he would have won that by a mile.................. 8)

Imagine running Le Mans like that, flat out, with all those other cars, for 4 hours straight, then doing your night shift too.
Remember also that was 1968 tire technology too.
Real racing, if it rained, you pulled in they put on rain tires and you went right back out.
