new members and chat

Post by Kid »

We have many members who participate in chat every Sunday evening. We have had new members log in and never post anything. Is there anything we can do to make it better for new members to join in the fun. It can be intimidating to new members when they log in and see people using first names and realize most know each other and have met. We can use any advice to get new members to join in.................Kid

Something all new chat visitors may find helpful.

When you first come to chat your page will be set to a white background and look like there is very little to do. Go to "STYLE" at the top of the page and switch it to "BLACK". Your page will change it's look and be much easier to read.

Come in and visit!

Howdy! From Gulfport, Ms
I just bought a 66 short bed a week or so ago. It was last restored in '03 so, it has some issues. Since I am not the brightest guy in the world. I may need some help.
Thanks for letting me look around.

You regulars might want to ask the new members where they are from, what they drive and what they do for a living, if they are still working, etc. It would probably help get them engaged in the chat.

We always greet them with Hellos when they log on. Some will respond
while others never say a word. And the thing is, if you don't post anything
for a while the chatbot will boot you off. TR

What is this chat you speak of?

I'm at work but will try and get on and say HOWDY!

Maybe we will get some newbies...possibly that guy we met at Sid's get together yesterday. What was his name Gary? Chris something with a nice 65 flareside.

also it tells you the number of people in the parentheses when there is anyone in there as well as there names if you point your mouse on it

it is always open for use, the main time lots are in there being sunday nites starting at 8 pm central time

as for advice to newbies, do not be afraid its a lot of fun i think.
topics vary greatly, and even if you are bad at typing no one cares as most of us make typing errors.

It's been awhile since this topic was updated. Still having chats on Sunday evening? I'll try to join this week.

Yep, generally a half dozen on. Sometimes more though. Lots of good things discussed. Come on over!
