Mr. Allen Swift (Springfield, MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.
He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!
He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it.
He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death.
It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years)
Just thought you would find this of interest....

My record is my dodge caravan, commercial vehicle.
I had it 18 years..put 290,000 on it.. Still miss it..it had a 2.5 4 cylinder, with a 5 speed manual transmission.
I think its the the same basic setup used for the world record mini van drag record... He had the optional turbo though ! Its the same motor as the shelby charger...

I've got 3 vehicles that have been in the family a while. The longest is our '57 T-Bird, which my Dad bought in '57. The intent is that will stay in the family (with me) a lot longer too, especially now that it's been restored. The second longest is my 1971 "Scarab" (Datsun 240Z which had I put a 350 Brand X engine in it) I've had it since I was 17 (1979) and drove it for about 6 years and it's been in "restoration" ever since. The third is my '61 Slick, which my Grandpa bought new and I inherited in 1980, it's generally been drivable (at least runnable) all these years and I'm really excited about getting it restored and back on the road.

Bought this beast in 1992, 4th engine, 3rd rear end, lots of hard miles used hard but never abused. I always put the mechanicals ahead of looks. Someday it might get a face lift but not holding my breath. It's getting a newer front axle this winter. It's kind of like my right arm, I don't know how I could get along without it.
