People's Choice

Post by Sinc »

Hey Guys,

Yesterday was the "People's Choice" Demo Day at the museum. It was our final Demo Day for 2015, and every year for the finale we invite everyone to visit our website and vote for their favorite cars in the collection. Then, we demo the top four vote-getters on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So, here are this year's winners…

#1. 1964 Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2287), in 2014 this car was voted "Car of the Year" by the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA)…

#2: 1970 Porsche 917LH (917-043), LH for Long-Tail (in German), in 1970 this car came in second at the 24-Hours of Le Mans (its sister car, a short-tail, came in first). This car made 240 MPH on the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. Its nickname is "Hippie" due to the in-your-face paint scheme. Also, it makes a very brief appearance in the Steve McQueen move "Le Mans"…

#3: 1966 Ford GT40 MKII (XGT1), this is one of only two "lightweight" GT40s built by Alan Mann Racing. It competed at the 1966 Le Mans and one of its sister cars won the race handily. In fact MKII's swept the top three places…

#4: 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (0710TR), this car was the "first" customer Testa Rossa. It was also used in Ferrari's 1958 sales brochures and other literature. In 1958 only 19 were available for sale to customers…

So, here they all are…
