Twas the day after Christmas

'Twas the day after Christmas Eve
And Santa was all done
He decided he'd worked all summer
Now it was time to have fun

He went out to the garage
And opened the door
And something quite shiny
Sat on the clean floor

It had a sweet engine in it
A cammer , I'm told
With bucket seats in the cab
That were over fifty years old

It sat low in the back
And tall in the front
That's the gasser look
And it was ready for a hunt

Old Santa fired it up
And dam ! It sounded good !
He said " it's time to find a chebby"
"And see what's under their hood"

And since its magic with Santa
He can go , anywhere ,you see
So he went to all places
Okla-homa ...not sure of the city

He spied a farm truck
It was orange and white
With a camper on back
... It was a time for a fight

They pulled up to the light
And Gave each other the look
Those V-8s both rumbled
Those trucks both shook

It was a good day for farm truck
But better for St Nick
He got him by 3 car lengths
That old 63 was quite quick !

They say there's only one xl
But they actually built two
one went to a farmer
The other ? Old Santa ! That's who !

Every time Pat posts one of these, I think HMMMMMM how can I top this? hahahahah

And..... I always picture him on an old narrow no cab tractor bumping down a wide windswept field.. trying to take notes as he writes it on the hood of the tractor...reaching around the steering wheel...

I wish I would have kept notes.....
Seems like my imagination is in overdrive a lot of the time
I can ride a tractor for 12 hours with no radio or phone
Day after day

I feel sorry for today's kids that can't be without a phone for a few minutes

Should old Slick pickups be forgot..
Like my, dear old Stepside..

Like my, dear old Stepside, my friends
Like my, dear old Stepside.
She'll take a heavy loadin yet
My dear old stepside...

You can build them so they drag real low...
Or sit up very high !
They don't rust out like chevies do
And only Ford knows why !

My, dear old Stepside, my friends
My, dear old Stepside
She'll take a heavy loadin yet
My dear old stepside...

And don't be bringing up the fact that STEPSIDE is a cheby term not Fords !!!! hahahahah

Have you heard this story of the Hot Rod Race
When Santa and the short bed was settin' the pace.
That story is true, Just take it from me
ole Santa was driving that 63
It's got a cammer motor and it's really souped up.
That Uni-body makes it looks real tuff
It's got eight cylinders; he uses them all.
It's got overdrive, just won't stall.
With a 4-barrel carb and a dual exhaust,
With 4.11 gears santa never gets lost.
It's got safety tubes, but He ain't scared.
The brakes are good, tires fair.
He Pulled out of The artic late one night
The moon and the stars was shinin' bright.
We was drivin' Down to Canada you see
Passing cars like they We're planted like trees
All of a sudden in a wink of an eye
Another Slick passed him by.
Santa said, "Elves, that's a mark for me!"
By then the taillight was all you could see.
Now the elves was ribbin' santa for bein' behind,
So He thought He'd make the Cammer unwind.
Took his foot off the gas and man alive,
He shoved it on down into overdrive.
Wound it up to a hundred-and-ten
The speedometer said that It hit top end.
His foot was blue, like lead to the floor.
Santa said "That's all there is and there ain't no more."
Now the elves all thought He'd Went insane
And telephone poles looked like Candy canes
Rudolph said, "Slow down! I see spots!
The lines on the road just look like dots."
The fenders was clickin' the guardrail posts.
The elf beside him was white as a ghost.
The dust on the headers was starting to stink
When Santa started to gain on that truck called jinx
Santa knew he could catch him, He thought he could pass.
Don't you know by then he'd be low on gas?
They had flames comin' from out of the side.
Feel the tension. Man! What a ride!
Santa said, "Look out, fellers , I've got a license to fly!"
And that Short bed pulled over and let him by.
Santa looked in his mirror; he was out of luck
The cops were after his Hot Rod Truck
They arrested santa and they put him in jail.
He called mrs clause to make his bail.
Mrs clause said, "Santa , you're pushing your luck
If you don't stop racing that hot rod truck

Had to wait three years for the next one but it was worth it. Dean, I thought Jinx was faster than that. Keep up the good work.
