I really need to work on my truck

Post by slick4x4 »

But the grass is really growing
And the mower needs some maintenance ...
Then I need to mow it
And weed eat
At my house
And moms house (where the shop is)
Her house takes about 4 hours on a big zero turn

When I was younger (a kid)
If an engine wouldn't start.. . That gave me something to do !
Now if there's a low tire , I start to moan :cussing:

The truck is nearing the finish line
But it seems like I'm running out of steam...
Have a small car show here in a month
I promised myself it would be in it

I'm getting tired of eating this elephant :?

yes grass is getting tall here too
need to do mower work and as always fill up the tires on the rider or push the other one which takes 3x as long
rider needs a battery too
winch motor puked on my truck, spent a day trying to get it working to no success
time and travel $ to do some of these things
car needs some maintenance too
trailer needs put together
not as much daylight here as way up north where i used to be and surprisingly getting older and slower at doing things

as far as the truck, i decided as long as mechanical things are ok then looks might need to wait some

so i just keep taking little bites and eventually maybe possibly things get done

I feel your pain, Pat! There may not be quite as many slicks next month as we hoped; but we have a fighting chance at having a few more ready by August!

saturday was a lost day the 35-55 mph wind all day kept me from going outside to do anything
this morning i fired up the push mower, got the close to the house grass mowed then after lunch i went and got out the rider. got about 15 minutes of mowing before i drove by one of the blades laying on the ground, found all the pieces but the bolt sheared off in the pulley shaft. took all that a part, got the shaft and pulley pressed out of its housing and drilled out the remains of the broken bolt only to find i did not have the needed tap.
the shaft is pretty old and messed up but im hoping i can retap the hole rather than hunting down a new part.
so about 40% of the grass got mowed and no weed eater work or dead branch trimming.
must have walked by my truck 50 times thinking about the things i still need to do to it

Mowed some more today...
Bearing went out on the middle spindle on deck :cussing:

Stripped a bunch of brass water meter to take to the recycler
Should have enough $ from that to pay the seat upholster

Went down and picked up the tank for the propane
The guy that took it off for me also took off the carb adaptor & regulator
Looks like it would bolt right on to a 223 carb
Might do another propane conversion someday...

I did look at the truck in the shop.......
Tomorrow for sure !

I killed a snake in my grass today. I nearly jumped out of my skin and f-ed up my knee trying to get away from the thing.

I pushed the f100 away from the spot by the shed and put it closer to the garage so I can get to it with air tools.

I took the hood out of my shed and set it up on a pallet to do some welding on the hole someone drilled in it years ago.

I did mow the lawn.. gotta get it under control so the dogs won't get sand burs... And the damn snake scared me shitless- so gonna mow more often to keep them from staying in my yard. First snake Ive seen in two years being here.

really need to watch for those here too, all kinds of snakes up here in the high desert.
dragged up a shorter piece of wood to split and burn from down near the road, my wife found and killed a black widow spider that was hiding in it

lots of deer around recently, had 6 in the yard the other day. wish they would stay and eat more grass

Got my spring on my truck today! suprisingly the ubolts came apart with pb blaster and hard pulling on the wrench. looks like ibuprofen for me at bedtime.

You unthreaded u-bolts by hand ?
I haven't did that for 35 years !
A torch or an impact does that now......

always nice
last time i did my fronts i did not have those tools
the u bolts were not too tough to deal with, long breaker bar and wire brush and pb blaster
once they got moving they came off good
spring eye bolts can be fun without an impact too

My impact wrench would not fit between the frame and the axle, besides its kinda wimpy. I cut the ubolts on parts truck with my air powered cutter. The parts truck is a 65 f100 and had extra leaves for overload. It looked factory, was that an option for half tons?
