Tom: Next time you go hunting peppers, I suggest a .22 , as you can see, the .308's leave too big a hole :):)

But seriously folks.....I think Slick4x4 may be on to something with the worms?

I guess I was fortunate, the one year when I planted peppers, they all came out really well, even the little ones that were so hot they made my lips glow:)

Calcium deficiency...aka end blossom rot.

Take some egg shells and crush them up and mix it into the soil around your peppers.

I have what appears to be the same on my tomatoes, I put it down to the heat we are having this summer, my okra is only 4" tall right now, should be near 4 foot tall!!!

It's caused by to high of nitrogen levels in your soil which happens naturally over the years especially if you grow in the same spot. Next spring I recommend adding lime to the top 12 inches of soil and you should be good for a few more seasons. I use crushed egg shells for my tomatoes and peppers and it seems to work

I do the same thing. The wife thought I was crazy but has seem to have solved the issue with the tomatoes. Never had that with the peppers but figured it couldn't hurt.

I put plenty of lime in the fall and spring, the pelletized type, this year I moved the area for the peppers to a new spot that never had them before and 2 nights ago the deer trimed 4 tomato plants for me, we don't eat enough eggs so I'll try adding some calcium next year. Thanks. Tom
