That is the "beginning of the end" ... As far as I'm concerned

Other than the safety concerns, and that should be the end of it, who's going to buy the beer if you do not have a job?
who's going to buy the light bulbs if there are no checkers?
Just how much profit needs to be made at the expense of our people living in poverty

I would have a hard time crawling back in the sleeper for a nap and trusting that truck to drive itself. I don't think I would sleep very much. I wonder if the truck knew to stop at the scales between Denver and Colorado Springs without being prompted by the driver?

Michelle can you see some old timer DOT Man in the scales, stop this truck and sees nobody driving, , then ask that stupid robot I want to see your log book, Robot says that does not compute  , So that gets :cussing: at the robot when all the time robot keeps saying that does not compute, next thing it gets real ugly and pulls the plug on the robot, then a REAL Truck driver has to step in, he gets arrested for being drunk in a commercial vehicle since he had nothing to do he was drinking back or smoking something in the sleeper while texting, meanwhile the other drivers are   as they go past the scales at the dumb robot

I agree Tom, its nuts. When ask for a log book the computer prints out its electronic logs. They have went to that in a lot of the trucks now. It makes me wonder what hours a computer can drive. I guess if the computers logs are not up to snuff they will shut it down until it gets legal again.

I heard a news story about this. They still have a "driver" assigned to each truck and it wouldn't reduce the number of drivers. Sounds like there will be an interlock between the driver being in the seat and the truck running. Said they still need assistance for certain things like fuel and some obstacles in the roads.

It is a scary first step, though.

Trust me after having to back trucks into our dock because so called professional drivers are not able to do this, I think the best thing to do is let a computer drive the truck, with the idiot that can't drive sitting in the seat looking out the window.

Here's the scary parts in Trucks now,,

E-Logs,, look at the trucks that are speeding through Construction Zones,, that's trucks marked by E-Logs, in a bad traffic Jamb those same trucks are trying to make up time causing problems, Then try to find a parking spot in a truck stop/rest area, NOT since these E-Logs are forcing trucks to park and even leaving drivers staying at truck stops anywhere 100 miles or less from home,, This is all due to Gov't :bs:

Now as far as drivers we so many that cannot back up, pull in straight at fuel pumps then park so screwing up the pumps and how many drivers I see that their eyes are focused straight ahead and never check there mirrors and wonder why something happens at the rear of trailer, we can go on and on with these steering wheel holders
