Cleaning up dirty stuff

Post by slick4x4 »

You think 50 year old truck parts are hard to clean ?

My son has a restaurant & he went to an auction
A diner in town sold out.. Kitchen & all

He bought some equipment.. Cause it was real cheap
He bought 3 fryers (hot oil.. Mainly for cooking French fry type foods)

I am going to convert one to propane (they are natural gas now)
So I can make it portable.. For fish frys or whatever...

I've never seen anything like the stuff that has slopped over the sides
Like this thing has... There is NOTHING that will make this plastic like
Crap soften up ... I've tried everything....

Engine degreaser, power washer, brake cleaner, clr, oven cleaner goo-off
It just won't come off... I've finally found some results with a heat gun & wire wheel

On a side note... My shop now smells like McDonald's

The pro's use a steam cleaners...
have any friends with a Hotsy?
I'm not sure it will be hot enough.
Our new hotsy did remove soy oil cooked on a brigs & scrap iron, our regular pressure washer couldn't budge.

PS do this as far away as possible from things you value.
It will stick to everything it lands on with the same vengeance!

This includes you and your coveralls.

Do some googling and see if anyone local to you does CO2 Blasting (aka: Dry Ice Blasting). It's supposed to work very well for this type of stuff, and because it sublimates, there is no mess to clean up like with sand or soda (neither of which would be recommended for the task at hand:)

Now every time you go into the shop, you will start thinking of Big Macs.

I thought about a steam cleaner
An old mechanic I knew as a kid had one
That thing would clean stuff a hot power washer wouldn't touch
I'm just doing it myself... Trying to keep it on the cheap...

Michelle.. Did you know McDonald's now has a "Grand Mac" ?

Well, as we were going to try them on burgers at Slick Stock and never got a chance, I left a can of Aussie Beetroot in our Esky in the Clubs Caravan
if you still have it at your place, get them and try some on a burger at Exit 14, I'd like to hear what Alex thinks of it, maybe he could have a new burger on his menu
The Macca burger ! ... The burger with the LOT !, that's with everything....except pineapple! egg, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, mince beef patty, cooked onions, tomato sauce.... yum !
