What has happened to Photobucket? I just got notice that since I am using them as a third party hosting service, they want to charge me $400 a year to use this service.
Is it just me or did this happen to everybody.

I've been seeing this on other peoples posts on some other sites that I frequent. Now I know what's going on. although that doesn't seem right.

I logged in through my photobucket account and got the same thing. I didn't go into from the email. I wonder if there is a way to contact photobucket.

Good luck contacting them. There it a place to ask for assistance but it's mostly other FB users that answer. You try to report an issue (it wouldn't let me share pictures for a long time and it said my account was 98% full or something like that). Each time I tried to contact them I got a robot answer. After a few weeks of trying they told me my account wasn't full (7%) and amazingly I could share pictures again. They are a total mess there.

The terms seem to say that we can no longer use Photobucket like we have all these years without paying regardless of percentage used.
Pay up to post your photos.

Dang it!

long ago most everything on the web was free
not so anymore
even the cost to be connected to the internet is becoming outrageous due to data and usage limits
i used to be able to be online 24/7 with no problem, now if i go over their set limits i have to pay extra, not a nominal cost but something i consider too much.

as of 6-28-17 photobucket has decided to screw their members as well

Types of Accounts, Pricing and Limits

Visiting : There is no cost to visit the Site or to register as a Member.
Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.
Ad-free Account : The Ad-free Account offers Members the ability to use the Site without seeing any third party banner advertisements when logged into your Ad-free Account (note, viewers of your images within Photobucket will see ads unless they, too, have Plus accounts and you will continue to see Photobucket offers and announcements). This account level is available for $2.49 / month, payable by the Member on a monthly recurring basis.
Plus Account : The Plus Account offers several paid options that may give the Paying Member more storage, bandwidth, 3rd party image hosting, image linking and/or other services as outlined below. Once and during such period of time in which you subscribe to and pay for a Plus Account, we will consider you a "Paying Member." Please note that all Plus Account subscriptions are billed annually at the commencement of the service. Photobucket may also offer a monthly billing option for its Plus Accounts (see terms and restrictions, below).

Available Plus Account Plans : Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans:

o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.

i was kind of happy that when my previous computer gave up the ghost i still had all my pics from pb i could use.now im not sure about that anymore.

i certainly cannot afford nor would i want to give them $400 per year to be able to use my pics in this or any other forum.

i do not know if they can steal your pics or make it so you cannot remove them to use elsewhere but if they can i consider it crooked and downright theft.

Photobucket might have cut their own throat on this one, how many people are going to drop 400 bucks to post pics? Sure is going to change the way things are done on a lot of forums.

What Brian posted is exactly what I was seeing.
I know one thing for sure, I am not paying their $400 to post pics. I will have to figure something else out.
I still have all of my pics on my computer so I don't need Photobucket to restore them.

This Type Of Crap Is Why I Still Have A Rotary-Dial Phone. Just Wait Till The 5g Network Gets Rolled Out. "The Internet Of Things" Where Everything And Every Aspect Of Your Life Is Connected Online Right Down To Your Shoes. The Orwellian Control Grid Is Here And The Genie Isn't Going Back In The Bottle. If Everybody Deleted Their Facebook Pages And Dumped Their Cell-Phones This Wouldn't Be Happening....

You are right about everything being tied to the internet and your cell phone.
I still use my cell phone as a phone. I refuse to put facebook and all of that stuff on my phone. I have more important things to do during the day than to check facebook. I do get emails on my phone from my Copperstate Components business but that is it. Everything else can wait until I get home at night. I don't want my whole life tied to my cell phone.

Just logged into mine
Still the same... no cost & all my pics are there
I'm thinking it's a very ingenious scam
No business would go to free to extremely high priced
