Overhaulin

Just sitting here watching Overhaulin and wondering how many would like to have their truck Overhauled if they had the chance vs restoring it themselves. I enjoy doing metalwork and bodywork and paint, especially paint, so I would rather do it myself. Just wondering.

I love the show, would like to pick and choose parts of the rebuild, but the reason I do this is because I enjoy the build.
I do not think I would want a Foose original, I would be afraid the dust would scratch it!
It did not take long for that seal team member to try and cash in on his build

And as much I respect the guy,ole Chip is stuck on a two-tone merry go round.....even Valla gets annoyed at those..who pays for all that work....??

If memory serves me right, they restored a slick years ago. And, as I recall, the guy turned around and sold it not long after it was done. Fortunately, my wife knows my tastes, so if she was the one they were asking what I would want, I'd be pretty safe. I have to agree, that some of what they're doing these days is just re-hashed, but Chip Foose and crew can do the motor/engine/body work any time for me if they want....

Is that the show where they play pranks on one another, complain about the new project, bitch because they don't have enough time to finish .. but do, the head guy draws a design, they go to a bonding secession, work late for free, have strange hair dose, sharp featured facial hair, have lots of tattoos, blow out the budget and make 50% profit on the sale.... nah never seen it !

No that's not it Allen, this is the one where the head guy has a ton of talent insists on good hard work,no drama, and puts out cars worth a mint just because its his.
The Idiot you are thinking about is Richard Rawlings out of Texas,he fits all your comments, is all ego with little to back it and no car talent...a real huckster.

I hate big wheels and shaded 2 tone paint jobs. Also don't want a crate motor small block. Wouldn't mind having my bumper tucked or my build finished, just do it with the parts I want to use.

Chip has a ton of talent, his tastes don't always align with mine and he's too quick to throw out a cool engine for a crate motor.

My friend submitted my truck information to the show when he had it at his house when I was dealing with the initial cancer stuff and beforehand I moved to Jersey,

It was around the same time they aired that Navy Seal slick truck so obviously would t have picked mine too. It woulda been cool, but no personal connection to the project if it was chosen.

I really like the show myself. Foose and his crew do great work, much better than the 2 idiot brothers at Gas Monkey Garage. That's a real joke...

But I had much rather see anybody do their own Slick. Even if it's not A-1, you tried. A person merits more credit from me, just knowing he tried. It's the ones who say "I can't do it" BEFORE they even try that I give the least credit to. It's a TRUCK. If it doesn't come out right, save a little money and do it again...HEY, practice makes perfect. Don't think for one minute that even Foose was BORN with all his know-how.

It's YOUR truck, do it YOUR way, and satisfy YOU, NOT the world. When listening to others opinions, all trucks will probably come out looking the same. Wouldn't that bore a person to death. Even "I" have talents in one area, and not so much in others, but I love my truck, even if others don't. You'll never please everyone.

As many have said, TV shows, especially Fooses bunch, do some
amazing things, especially with rust repair and replacement.
I don't always agree with their choices on stuff, but that's just
because I really don't like graphics and stripes on nice paint
jobs. Especially if the original vehicle never had them.
I will probably never have a show vehicle, just one I can
drive anywhere and have a blast with it! TR

I like the show, though I wish they would show more of the 'how-to'. Personally I enjoy the work and tend to be bored with a vehicle once it is done. The cars/trucks I've kept the longest are the ones I haven't done much to other than keep them running. I have no use for a vehicle that is too nice to drive. My concept for a show would be called Bucket List. It would consist of one season per vehicle as I try and work through the projects in my barn before time runs out. The drama would come from trying to resist adding to the list.

I built a 56 F-100 show truck (but rain, sleet, or snow) it got DRIVEN to every show I ever went to. My most enjoyable part of a show was to register and park my vehicle, open the hood, and walk off....lets say to the North for instance. About 10 minutes later after the 1st group of gawkers had finished looking at it, I'd walk around the building, jump a fence or two, and return from the Southernmost side of the truck.

I'd stop about 25 feet from MY truck and pretend to be looking at someone else's truck, and just listen to all the comments from people who just SPIED my truck ahead of them. THAT was the coolest part. Opinions don't bother me, I build my stuff MY way and whoever likes it or don't, still doesn't bother me. I've heard everything from ""WHO WOULD EVER PAINT A TRUCK THAT COLOR"....to "MAN, THAT A BEAUTIFUL TRUCK", to "I LIKE WHAT HE DID HERE, BUT HE REALLY BLANKED THAT PART UP."....LOL.

I'm the same way though, I can find faults with the BEST of them and I can also find some out of this world idea that I LOVE. Build it your way and see what they say about it. Just don't get mad....it's NOT worth it.

I enjoyed the show back when it was running. It was a dog and pony show though. Not a tutorial or how to for guys like us that like to do it ourselves. Foose has some amazing designs but not my taste personally. They set such a tight deadline that there were shortcuts taken to get it completed within the timeframe.

The one slick he did, at least he put a Roush Ford motor in, but the grille looked like a 68 Chev when he was done, I was not too impressed.
I figured he would have done better.
Would I complain if he came and took my truck to redo?
NO.

I really like Chip's work but I don't think I'd like someone else making the decisions for me.

On the topic of the other loosely car-related shows, the one time I saw Counting Cars I was perplexed as to why he thought finding a late 60's or early 70's C-10 pickup to build for a customer was going to be some insurmountable task. I get maybe finding a suitable truck within a certain timeline would be tough but they played it like the guy was asking for something exceedingly rare.

And then he just happened to see his friend at the gun range who conveniently had one he would sell, pending the results of a shooting competition between the two.

as long as it wasn't my money and it was built to my specs?... sure have at it.. lol I enjoy building my own but I could never afford a high dollar build so I would be more than glad to have someone else build me a show vehicle that I cant afford.....
