Had my camera out lately... Thought some may enjoy

Dad's cornbinder. former firetruck he converted to a dump. He works it every day.
Image
Customer's cornbinder. They bought it new. About once a year it's at dad's garage for minor repairs.
Image
Dad's fridge. Bought it to use but just never did.
Image
Couple more ford's. The "5000" and "Big Blue". Survivors from when my faimly had a dairy farm. When I was about 12yrs old I was tedding hay with "Big Blue" while my slightly older brother was raking with the 5000 across the feild. It developed into a race.... If my father saw us the only grandkids he would have today is my sisters kids. He would have removed our reproductive organs.

Cool pics! Have the two blue tractors been repainted since you were kids? They look like they're in great shape. :thumright:

The "keeper" pic is cool, too. I was about that age when I used to drive the ol Massey Fergusen around on our farm. :)

Yes they have been repainted but both have very low hours. The 7000 was about six yrs old and the 5000 was about 3 years old when the livestock was sold. After the cows were sold we cut the hay on the farm to sell for about 3 yrs until the barn burned to the ground. Since then they probably get used an average of 100hrs a year.

They are Dad's, he is a school bus contractor. I guess it's in our blood though. My grandparents hauled kids for 35 years, dad has been doing it for 41 years, my sister has driven for mom and dad for about 20 years, and I work for a school bus dealership. I also help out dad driving some evening runs and turning a few wrenches his buses. I hope to get involved with the contracting someday it's a good buisness.

Alan,

Alan, They stay in a lot near the schools then the drivers all ride together in one of the school suburbans back to dad's lot. It saves a ton of fuel plus it is a little "benifit" while fuel is so expensive. He actually gets paid to bring them all back to the starting point

Jason , we don't have school only buses, they use the local buses during school travel times then they go on to do routes around the general area till home time. Bus travel is not subsidised unless you live more than 1 km from the school, but if you decide to send your kids to a private out of your area all travel is subsidised WTF.

i had an old binder like that when i was younger. i never really learned any particulars about it. what engine, trans it had etc, but the lug nuts on one side were opposite of the other and the shifter was really funky to shift. you couldn't just go straight down into second or up and over to third. you had to kind of pull it to the center of the pattern and then back into the gear you wanted. it was free so i didn't complain. i think it was a 60 or so.
