what part in the column needs replace to stop the problem described below...(maybe its not a problem)
I can grab my steering wheel and move it up and down a bit, and it feels like the shift tube is moving inside the column. It's a small amount of play but I dont know if that is normal or not?

most likely the bearings are slightly worn.
you can loosen the bottom clamp and move it up toward the tube, this should help until you get new bearings
