Magnets in/ on the tool box

Post by Uncle Skip »

Strong magnets are something every man needs in his tool box... or stuck to the outside of same.
I collect every old microwave oven I can find.
Inside is a "magnatron", the little device that actually makes the microwaves, and there are two very heavy duty round magnets about 3/8" thick and the diameter of a beer can in each unit.
They will hold stuff in place you can't imagine.
Trust me.
Hold metal pieces for tack welding in place.
Car covers or tarps on your Slick without damage to the paint.
The list is endless.
Start collecting old microwaves, take the magnets out and you'll find more uses for them than you ever imagined.
No, you can't borrow mine.
FYI, if you try to put two of them together DO NOT get your fingers caught between them or you'll get a big time blood blister.
Don't ask how I know about that.
U@ss
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

I will have to try that Alan, I have arthritis in my hands and shoulders. My right shoulder really gives me a hard time.

Nope, not just you. My signature says with age comes wisdom. With age also comes pain.

Chelle, you can get therapeutic magnets, about the size of a Aussie dollar ( your quarter), but fridge magnets work almost as well, just give the fridge a wide berth as you pass!

Rare Earth magnets are very strong and you can get them in all sorts of sizes. Those things will pinch the hell out of you if you're not careful - even the smaller ones.

My great Grandfather wore a copper bracelet all the time. Your skin absorbs the copper - helps with arthritis - I wear a copper ring.

Ha ha, that's a funny one Alan. Years ago there was an old man that ran a junk yard that we used to frequent from time to time. He had a long beard and long hair that wore a ton of copper, necklaces', bracelets on both risk, several rings (probably had a lot of ailments) any way he also had green teeth. My husband use to say his teeth turned green from all the copper.

Does this seem like a good deal for a set of 4 90 degree magnets? ... http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Strong-Hand-Weldi ... ltDomain_0

Or are there better ideas out there? I don't have any strong ones now and was wondering what are the best ones to get.

Another use for a sort of weak magnet. Keep it in a cloth so when you look at vehicles you run it over the body and it will fall off where the body filler is.
Disclaimer: this does not work on vettes
