Adjustable brake rod-How I made one

Post by sparky8131 »

New member here. Just added disc brakes to my 61 F100. Original brake rod was too short, & didn't feel like spending $50-$70for an after market setup. First I got a 3/8" heim joint, 3/8"x12" threaded rod, 3/8"x1.5" bolt & 3 nuts. I cut the rod to 5", put it in the heim joint using one nut as a lock nut. I threaded it in about .5", attached to my brake pedal with remaining hardware. It put my pedal about the right height. Now I did round the end that went into the m/c just a little. I could have cut the rod just a wee bit longer to have more height, but this was just perfect. Total cost was about $18.

If anyone thinks this is unsafe, please let me know.
