Thanks , I will post pics of my "finished 66 with the crown Vic front swap soon. Drove it for the first time last weekend......very cool

Re: Chrome trim install
Not sure if I'm reading it right, sounds like you installed the clips to the truck first. If you did that's backwards the clips go in the trim first then attached to the sheet metal. The clips will slide for alignment.

Re: Chrome trim install
Yes, the trim clips are installed. The trim originally popped off.
This is the area in front of the door right before the hood.
Is the access panel in front of the cab?
Thanks Dan

Re: Chrome trim install
You go thru the floor vent and up into the cowl for that one.
Make sure your clips have the oval piece with the little whisker headed off one direction. That is the spring that keeps the clip in place while you attach the trim.

Sorry for the late response.
Does it matter which direction the spring is facing?
Do you know where I could find a pic?
Thanks

Re: Chrome trim install
It will only go together correctly one way. Put the oval piece in the trim from the back and the whisker spring creates tension to hold it in place. They go in very easy. When you tighten the nut the oval cannot rock if you did it right. Play with a piece of trim and the 2 clips off the truck and it should be clear to you.

Re: Chrome trim install
I use double side tape on the upper edge in addition to the clips in an attempt to limit the amount of debris usually found behind the trim. I also use it to affix said cowl trim along with a little " elephant snot", 3M trim adhesive on the stud of the (un-nutted) clips. This is attributable to my aversion to bood letting and blood stains while attempting to do this the "correct" way An old "uncle Skip" trick is the use of masking tape as alignment device as well as to catch any excess adhesive. I do not put double sided tape at the lower flange of the trim, preferrng to leave it open for drainage.
