backspacing and offset question (65 F100)

I spent some time this morning searching this forum for an answer but came up short. Most of what I have found relates to back space.

I'm looking to upgrade my wheels on my 65 F100. I need a rear wheel that will extend out to but just behind the fender and look even with the front.

The rear wheels I'm currently looking at are:

9" wide 4.06" backspace and -24mm offset

or

9" wide 4.53" backspace and -12mm offset

(my current rear wheel is 16x 9.5" wide with 4" backspace (I don't know the offset if any)

For the front I currently have a 15"x7 4.5" backspace and 0 offset. I'm going with a 16x8 4.5" bs 0 offset so I know that will work fine. The rear wheel has my mind blown at the moment.

I have no way to try before I buy and I hope to buy, test fit and be happy hence why I stopped here first to hopefully avoid having to return wheels and swap them trial and error style.

Thanks!

Umm, looks like an error on your current front wheels. 15" x 7" with a 4.5" backspace is going to be +10 mm or more offset. Either of the rears you are considering should work just fine. One of my '65 Stylesides is running 16" x8.5" low offset factory wheels with a '77 rear (4"wider axle flange to axle flange) with 285/70's, so you should have plenty of room for a decent size tire with either choice. If your goal is to put the front and rear to the same track width; you would need about a negative 30/50 mm. offset to push the tire center line out the needed 2" to fill that fenderwell; probably best achieved with a 10" wide wheel with around 4"/ 4.5" backspacing. Confused yet?

Not too confused. lol I have a 16x9.5 now on the rear. It sits perfect with the front 15x7 when considering the fender opening front and back. I'm putting 17's on the truck and the front will be a 17x8 4.5" back space and 0 off set. I believe this will work fine. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Thanks for the info on the rear. I'm going to try that one with -24 off set. I think it will push the wheel out where I want it.
