First Drive in over 2 years!

Post by orangeRcode »

Finally got enough issues resolved so I could put Scarlett on the road. Was only a few miles but felt good to get her out an drive again. Need to sort out the temp gauge issue, paint the bed, install the tach and adjust the timing a bit but should be able to take on a longer shake down run this week before I go back to work on Thursday. Looking forward to the 5+ hour drive to KC from OKC. Glad I have a good buddy following me just in case I have any issues. One other thing, anyone know the trick to getting the key tumbler back in. Currently using a screwdriver as a key!

Rob, glad to hear it!
As to the tumbler, if you haven't fixed it yet, and replacing with new cylinder, use said screwdriver to rotate switch fully counter-clockwise.
Insert key in cylinder and rotate key to ACC position. Place the lock and key in the switch, depress a pin (straightened paper clip, etc) in the small hole in cylinder face, push slightly on pin while rotating the key counterclockwise. Push the cylinder in place.
If this procedure fails, drive it to Slickstock with the screwdriver, It'll make a good "class project", as compared to, say, removing a wayward transmission!
