Messages showing in outbox but not sent box

I am responding to PM's and when I submit I see that several have gone to the out box. Most others show in the sent box. Are the ones in the outbox actually getting sent?

As i understand it, the message stays in the outbox until the recipient opens it, then it is considered "sent".

yep. if it is in the "sent" box the recipient has read it and is ignoring you lol.
