Electrical Question...

Post by 64Ranger »

I have a 64 with a 292 and an alternator set-up. I noticed recently that when it is idling about 700rpm and running to about 1500rpm all the lights pulse. Before I start trouble shooting... does anyone have a good idea where to sart.
As usual, you guys seem to know everything, so thanks for the help in advance.

Doug.
Sounds like the voltage regulator. Be sure you get the right one. There are 2 different regulators for alternators and generators. They kind of look the same, but they aren't.
Also, check your grounds.

Thanks Skip...I have not had a problem with it untill all of sudden it happened yesterday.
I will take my regulator to a REAL auto parts store and have them match it up.
Thanks again,
