Suspension/Shock question

Post by nuwave »

I need to replace the shocks on a 1964 F-100 4X4. I notice that there is a block about 4 inches under each rear leaf spring shackle that appears to be a lift kit. No blocks are under the front leaf springs and the truck sits level. Is this block stock? If not, then I may have trouble finding the right rear shock set.

Yes, that is the stock setup. the front end was so high by the time they slung the springs and the axle under there, that Ford blocked the rear end up like that to make the truck ride sort of level, even though the 4x4's always look front-end high to me even with the block.

I have seen the shocks on ebay and told my buddy who also has a '64 Image
about them before. My luck there wouldn't be any if i needed some, hope your luck is better!

It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

those blocks are from the factory, there are 2 sizes 3 and 4 inch.
i bought my shocks in the auto parts store, same ones fit all the f250 4x4s into the late 70s.
