Alright, I completed the engine wiring and the ignition switch yesterday and the front lighting harness today.

I started her up and she ran like before I cleaned out the old wiring. I have to wait to do the rear section because I am getting new taillight buckets.

Here's some of the mess I started with.
6932

I found several connections that were corroded. The harness had been spliced into several times. With the conversion to a 100 amp alternator, I felt it was time to rewire. I am also putting in new headlamps and wiring up the new fuel tank I put under the bed.

I need to find a good connector to put 2 8 gauge wires and connect them to the original ignition switch wires. Anyone have any ideas?

I would like to wire in backup lights. I could easily put a switch under the dash or wait until I do the T5 conversion. What is the easiest way to do this?

3 or 4 speed? The 3 speed would be fairly easy to add backup lights - micro switch that gives them power mounted to make contact when the shifter is in reverse.
T-5 is really a piece of cake - it just plugs in.

Which master cylinder did you use? Year, Model, Part # (from where)? Thanks.

If I remember right it was Performance Online. It fit right into the stock location. It was a generic bolt on to the firewall. I had to make an extension for the plunger because the stock one was too short.

I would recommend a mustang MC because this one was about twice as expensive. It should bolt right up.

All of the other brake stuff came from Speedway but I had to find a few extra things to complete it. The kit came from CPP but Speedway sold it.

I guess I will be getting a T5 soon enough so I can wait to wire up the backup lights.

Here's how I ran my wires through the firewall. I am planning on adding a nicer rubber grommet that will make it look cleaner. I don't have to move the wires to install it either.

I ran the wires under the top lip of the firewall. I am waiting for the rest of my convoluted tubing to show up to hide them better. I would also like to patch up the spots were the factory plugs used to be.

I am currently getting ready to wire in the back section of the truck once I have some more time.

Here's an Idea of how far the gas tank will hang down. I haven't modified the ride height other than the tires. I am going to bring the filler neck out behind the rear bumper.

Well it has been about 2 yrs since i have attempted any more work. The move and work will do that. I took off that heavy back bumper and have a new one on the way. I also pulled the underbed tank and will finally finish it.
I ordered the T5 swap parts from Mummert, an alternator bracket, and the other half of the ram horn. By the end of the summer it will have a 5 speed, under bed tank, new exhaust, and possibly new paint Holley Green of course. :thumright:

SixtySix Ford, click on the album button on the bottom of my posts. All of the pics above should be in my album. The old forum used to post pictures that way. I will have pics of the new updates soon.

I received my rear bumper and brackets from Dennis Carpenter today. It appears that they stick out a little over an inch from the rear and hang a little low. :cussing: I think I can modify them to move them back about 3/4" by using the mounting hole behind the factory one and drilling a new one in the bracket.

Bump, underbed tank install. It appears that the bumper hangs to low so I am going to commit to the in the bed filler unless I can figure out how to plumb the filler neck in behind the taillight and have it fill the tank properly. :hm:

Here is a pic of my bumper. I was able to get it raised up some and it's about an inch out from the fender.

Hagans Street Rod Neccessities makes the cap that you need to put behind the taillight. It is a push thru design so you don't need to take the cap off.

I ran the hose from the post over to the tank exposed in the bed. I put a false floor in mine to cover up the spare tire and jack so the hose wasn't in the way.

Can you show me some pics of how you ran the hose and how the false floor looks? How high did you raise the floor? Do you have instructions on making that fancy hinge setup? :rocker: Your truck sure looks nice from the rear.
