Thes saga of castruck
History Truck was built in Oakville plant
white custom cab 292 three speed short box.
And no it is not a Mercury
Purchased in 1979 and drove for several years till the 292 gave out
First plan: (early 80's)
Swap in 302 4 speed paint and disc brake upgrade.
Got busyracing project shelved
Second plan: (late 80's)
Pro street: bought rims tires tubbed box.Decided to install torino front clip
Sandblasted cab floor patched floor and front cab mounts
Project shelved went racing again.
Third plan: (mid90's)Part "A"
Pulled truck out of storage again took to buddies shop and revisit the plan
After much discusson body is removed from frame and the frame is scrapped. Had torino clip on it at this point
All prostreet parts are sold off and and plans for a Truck with big tires all around is formed.
Project put back in storage Back racing.
Part"B"(late 90's)
Decide to put short track style chassis under body
Parts are brought out of storage to do mockup.
after much measuring and figuring Cas is born on paper.
Body back in storage gone racing again
Start process of gathering parts
Concept:
Build a Nascar style style truck chassis and stick a slick body on it.
(every time truck was put on hold I was off stock car racing)
Truck arm rear suspension
Standard snout Cup Front end
Alcon disc Brakes
Nascar style pedals
351 windsor
richmond 6 speed manual transmission
Basset cup style wheels with 305 50 15 tires all around
Construction:(chassis built in car owners Race shop)
establish ride height and weld cab to surfaceplate
Hang front sheetmetal set front axle centerline
weld Hutchison&Pagan to surface plate
Mock up box to establish rear centerline
Weld rearend to surface plate.
Spend next month connecting the dots (Building the Frame)
Roll it back to my shop
And start building process
Current staus truck is at paint shop

A story about the cover
It is the reason I joined in the first place because I was looking for one and could not find one I liked.
This Site was given to me by Kevin JC's buddy at roddoors.
Cover is a checkmate fx believe web is checkerpro.com
Will be driving truck to slickstock this summer.
Thanks for the kind words and I will give you more updates as I make progress.

I still haven't ordered mine. Mostly because with that clock running I can't really be convinced I will need it this year.
Kevin may be the single worst customer service person I have come across ever. His company obviously taught him every thing they knew.
Hey Ken there is sure a total shortage of pics in this thread. I know if someone checks your profile and looks in your album, they are there... but does every one know that?
Great work BTW.. no way a guy can hold a candle to someone with your skills.

Ken, you'll have to stand next to Cas with an armload of hotel towels so everybody can wipe the drool off of your truck and themselves while they are looking at it. With yours and Kevin's and several more I hope John Gilbert will come and do some feature shoots for CCT and where ever else he is working. Can't wait to see this badass ride of yours and count me in too for a ride in it. Awesome truck, Ken!
More pics, please. TR
