62-66 T-Bird Bucket Seats
62-66 T-Bird Bucket Seats
Anybody use these in a Slick before? Specifically a 64?

Re: 62-66 T-Bird Bucket Seats
I was going to use a pair of 67 seats in my 61 but sold the truck before I ever got near to doing it! An FYI though, the 61-63 seats are very different from the 64-66 seats and some 64-66 seats have a passenger side reclining seat which is worth a good chunk on eBay! I have 2 62 birds, one is the wifes the other is parts, the seats will fit but like what was said the srtato-lonuger seat is worth big $$$ the guy I got my parts bird from threw in a extra one as he didnt know any better. My future "Ultimate" slick project, you know the one we all want to build just to have, I am going to incorporate the wrap around rear seat to be the seats with doorpanels making it all blend into one. I am going to try the swing-away column as well just to be different. Whether I will ever get this done or not, well...its the journey of the trip and not the end destination that makes life fun
These are very nice and similar to the Ranger buckets but priced way out of my price range.

It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..
The same seat was used in the 64 models with the Sports Package option. They had the same seat pattern as the 63 Falcon Futura and Sprints, but the seats and the foam are the same as the T bird seats of those years. It would be a good fit in the 64.

The blue seats on Flee bay are from a 63 Bird, the 62 had a different pattern. They are darn good looking seats though. That style seat was used in the T birds from 58 to 63, Falcons from 61 to 65 and Full size Ford from 62 to 63. The various years had different seat patterns but the seat shell was the same.

Michelle, I am sorry but I think you are mistaken, Tbird seats vary significantly. 58-60 are nothing like 61-63 seats which are nothing like 64-66 seats. They are also different than Falcon seats of any year (61-65 Falcons use three different types of seats too, they are not all the same. 61 and 62 are the same but are different than 63 and 64 which are the same and 65 is different). I have 3 Birds right now and have had over 20 and can tell you they may look vaugely similar but they are nothing alike and don't swap well between years easily without modification. In fact, the 59 that I have now came to me with 63 leather seats in it and it was all I could do to even get behind the steering wheel because the 61-63 seats are fatter in every direction and when mounted in the earlier car they can't go back far enough or drop down low enough. The floors changed significantly between the three body styles and so the seats changed with them. I am also pretty sure that the 64 truck used a Falcon seat frame and not a Tbird seat frame based on the pictures I have seen. The Tbird seat is different and is much bigger/bulkier than the pictures I have seen. Unfortunately it is a common misconception that Tbird and Falcon seats are the same for some years (they do share some parts but not the seat frames according to the MPC). Just a quick rundown to try and ID Tbird seats: 58-60 are very flat and fold flat, 61-63 backs are more rounded/bucket shaped and they pivot towards the console when they fold, 64-66 are much more bucket shaped and contoured. They also have taller backs. HawkrodMichelle wrote:The blue seats on Flee bay are from a 63 Bird, the 62 had a different pattern. They are darn good looking seats though. 58-60 Tbird seats:

61-63 Tbird seats (this is a Merc fullsize, they used the same seat and it was the best picture I could find):

64-66 Tbird seat:

63/4 Falcon seat:

61/2 Falcon seats (these are really tough to find pictures of!):

Go back and read my post more carefully, I know that the seats for the different years looked differently and each had their own individual seat pattern or look if you will. I am not saying that they all looked alike or had the same seat tracks for that matter. When I said that the style was used from 58 to 63 I was referring to the general shape of the seats. I think you will have to agree that the seats from the 58 to the 63 T birds had the same general shape whereas the 64 to 66 had a totally different shape. That was the point I was trying to get across. The 58 to 63 birds, 61 to 65 Falcons, and 62, 63 full sized Fords all had seats that were rather full with a semi rounded top, unlike the thin shell seats of the 64 to 66 birds and the thin shell seats of the Mustangs. Even for the thin shell seats they would change from year to year, but the same general shape stayed the same. I too have owned several of these cars over the years, 61, Falcon Sport Futura, 63 Thunderbird Sport Roadster, 63 Galaxie 500 XL convertible, 64 Falcon Sprint convertible, so I know these cars intimately, I think I could have took the 61 Falcon seats and with new foam and seat skins could have made them into the same seat as my 63 Bird. I also will say that some had all plastic truck on the bottom sides and some had a combination of plastic and aluminum.

Sorry, I did misunderstand what you were saying, you wrote "but the seat shell was the same" which I took it to mean that you thought they were basically the same seats with different cushions and trim. I will say the 58-60 Tbird seat is not at all like what you are describing though, they are almost as flat as a plank and not at all like 61-63 seats! They are truly odd seats compared to the bucket shapes that came after! LOL Hawkrod
I will concede that I am not as familiar with them as I am the 61 and up. I have never owned a square Bird, all I could say with any certainty was they did have a similar look. They do seem to be a little more round on the top than the others and I am sure there may be other differences as well.Hawkrod wrote:Sorry, I did misunderstand what you were saying, you wrote "but the seat shell was the same" which I took it to mean that you thought they were basically the same seats with different cushions and trim. I have a set of seats from a '64 Bird to go in my Slick....eventually. Somebody on here has a thread with info and actually posted a photo. For some reason I saved is as a Word doc, so not sure if I can upload it to photobucket. Anyway, IMO, they look great in a Slick. I bought mine for $100, then paid another $100 for the drivers power mechanism (rebuilt) and $200 for new foam. Still need them upholstered and finished. Guess what I'm trying to say is, if the seats are useable to you as is, you might not be too bad trying to make the guy a slightly lower offer. If you have to fix 'em....yep...too high!
Good luck

Greg, those turquoise seats are from a 61 or 62 Comet. They are pretty seats. Here is a picture of the seats from my 61 Falcon Sport Futura that I owned back in the day.

Yep, that's a nice truck. I like his custom console designed to go with the T-bird seats.Johnny Canuck wrote:I am pretty sure El Polacko has T-bird seats in his truck
